Biden Pardons Final Thanksgiving Turkeys in Heartfelt Ceremony

On the Monday before Thanksgiving this year, President Biden made a short appearance for the final turkey pardon of his presidency, honoring the popular White House tradition of sparing a turkey from becoming part of a holiday meal. Although this practice became an annual tradition during George H.W. Bush Administration, it has been performed by several presidents that predate him, including Presidents John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan. The tradition’s origin traces back to President Lincoln, who spared a turkey from becoming Thanksgiving dinner at his son's request.
